You don’t know how to be alone with yourself. “There’s no kitchen, just an area where appliances are shoved together like clearance floor samples at Bed Bath & Beyond… You grew up in a big house with a backyard and a front yard. I loved the way Kepnes wrote all her characters, and defined them in short little sentence bursts, here and there. In this book, all characters are as interesting as each other, even the minor ones. The plot heavily relies on Joe continuing being crazy, therefore, he needs to stay out of trouble for the sake of storytelling – which meant that a lot of stuff felt far fetched to me. Therefore, the plot became a little bit repetitive for me and I stopped wondering what was going to happen next, and just wondered when. However, as time goes on, the plot does become predictable because Joe has a clear pattern when it comes to his psychopathy. Without spoiling anything, I do feel this book had lots of twists and turns that other thrillers don’t. I’m conflicted on how I feel about the plot.Ĭlearly, it was addicting because I couldn’t put this book down. Each page had a new issue that Joe had to overcome, and of course, his unique perspective spurred on the story. Despite only one of them being a reckless psycho, everyone else mindlessly follows his directions (despite them acknowledging how crazy he is) because no one else has any character! I love books about people with secrets being trapped together as tensions run high. This week, I devoured You by Caroline Kepnes. But, he's written as such a mustache twirling villian, you can't take him seriously as a threat. Theres only one "bad" character so the only interesting interactions are with him.

its about Six kids who are lost in an rv when a sniper blows out their tires and starts hunting them off until they figure out which of them is hiding something from the others (the motivation for the plan is so contrived and stupid) Five of the kids are EXTREMELY dull because they are all selfless and moral. I would have hoped Jackson's first non "a good girls guide to murder" book would have played to her strengths (investigation and procedure) but instead this is a very dialogue heavy, character centered story (which are NOT her strengths). Don't waste your time, read "five total strangers"
